Foreman came to us on New Year's Eve of 2023. As a shy stray from one of our partner shelters, we knew right away that he would need extra support before adoption. He went straight into a foster home, where his foster spent five months trying to gain his trust and show him he deserved love.
But Foreman wasn't easily convinced. His walls were high, and his protective shell remained intact. We moved him to the Adoption Center, hoping increased visibility would lead to adoption. As time passed, no one had managed to pet him or see him play. He would cover his face with his paws in a bed and swat at anyone who approached him. After two months without interest, we realized he needed to return to foster care.
A volunteer took him in as a foster, determined to breaking down his walls. Within just two and a half weeks, something changed in Foreman. An hour after settling into his foster home, he was wiggling joyfully between pillows. We had never seen him show this much emotion before. He began playing with wand toys and even allowed his foster to pet him—a moment that brought her to tears.
Planning to bring him to an upcoming adoption event, we returned Foreman to our adoption center with his foster by his side as his advocate. Before the event, a guest was moved by his story. To our amazement, when she approached to pet him, Foreman allowed it. Right before our eyes, Foreman had chosen his person.
A few days later, after 240 days in our care, Foreman went home with her. He now accepts affection without hesitation and has blossomed into the confident, loving cat we always knew he could be. Watching Foreman's transformation has been nothing short of miraculous.
None of this would have been possible without the ongoing support of our Paw Print Club members. The care and patience Foreman received during his long stay wouldn't have been feasible without their dedication. Their monthly contributions allowed us to provide him with a foster home, specialized care, and a safe environment to heal—both physically and emotionally—for as long as he needed.
