MEET BLUEJAY
Updated: 4 days ago
3 years old ● Female ● Cuddly, playful, loving
Bluejay is a tweety three-year-old girl with the personality of a kitten! She's always ready for a play session, and is (of course) fond of an interactive toy she and her human can play with together, but she can just as easily entertain herself by batting a toy around the room. She loves to follow her people around from room-to-room, curious about what they're getting up to (and can she be involved?!)
Her foster's favorite quirk about her is that Bluejay will frequently come running into rooms that they're in, happily meowing and updating them on what she's been up to, before settling into one of her favorite spots nearby to settle down. For Bluejay, her ideal adopter would be someone ready for play sessions, then cuddle sessions, followed by some more play. She relishes in attention, and her sweet personality is sure to win you over.
Been at P&C since 7/8/26.
A note from Bluejay’s foster:
”Bluejay is a very social girl! She loves meeting new people and greets everyone with a leg rub and a meow. She is extremely smart and inquisitive - she quickly worked out ways to communicate that it is playtime or that her water bowl needs to be changed (because she dropped food or a toy in it of course!), etc, using different gestures and meows.
The cutest thing is when she wants to play, she usually rolls over onto her back and puts her paws up in the air waiting for a toy. She can make just about anything into a toy but her favorites are the ones we can play with together like a laser pointer or a dangler. She gets bored with toys after a minute or two when playing independently but she could run after that red dot for a half an hour easily! It has taken some time for Bluejay to settle in here, especially to realize that she no longer needs to hunt or fight for food. At first she had to test everything she saw for safety by scratching and biting at it (me included!) and it definitely felt like she was always sleeping with one eye open.
Now, she explores new things (grocery bags, open cabinets) much more gently by sniffing and nuzzling. She does still nip and claw when playing (or when she wants to play and I'm doing something else) but that is much more gentle and playful now than it was as well. She rarely sleeps on me but does like to snuggle for a bit before moving to an empty spot nearby to take her nap. I have not seen her with other animals or small children but I suspect she would do well in a home with another cat and/or an older child/teen who wants to play. Younger children or older cats may not be as good of a match because she does like to use teeth and claws to play and communicate (as mentioned above, we've been working on this and it has gotten much better but she still has a ways to go).
Bluejay's ideal match would be patient, playful, and affectionate but not clingy. Her dream home would have lots of windows and high places where she can keep an eye on things, several items approved for scratching, and a long empty hallway for zooming!”
