How Corduroy and Paddington Learned to Trust Again

Corduroy, a 5-year-old mama, and Paddington, her 3-year-old baby, were surrendered to us, covered in urine and emaciated in late June of 2024. We don’t take in owner surrenders, but after seeing the shape they were in, we couldn’t turn them away.

After their baths and intake exams, they scarfed down wet food like they hadn’t eaten in ages. Based on their condition, it looked like they haven’t had a meal in days. We took small strides to gain their trust over the next few weeks. In time, they slowly came out of their shells and gained much needed weight.

A month after they arrived, we saw the light come back into their eyes. They knew that they could trust again. They chirped at volunteers and flopped around their kennel for pets. We knew they were ready to move into our adoptable rooms.

Before we knew it, both of these girls found a perfect forever home. If we didn’t have Paw Print Club’s support, we wouldn’t have been able to take in Paddington and Corduroy so last minute. Because of their support, these sweet girls won’t ever have to worry about their next meal again.
